Successful people think successful thoughts. They know that entertaining thoughts of failure and defeat is a waste of time. Successful people think of future possibilities, not of past set backs.

Now, plenty of people think that it\'s easy for successful people to be positive and think thoughts of success, because they are successful. But the reason successful people are successful is because they carry thoughts of success.

I recently read part of an interesting interview with actor Jim Carrey. The article reported that he said the following:

When I wasn\'t doing anything in this town, I\'d go up every night, sit on Mulholland Drive, look out at the city, stretch out my arms and say , \"Everybody wants to work with me. I\'m a really good actor. I have all kinds of great movie offers.\" I\'d just repeat these things over and over, literally convincing myself that I had a couple of movies lined up. I\'d drive down that hill, ready to take the world on, going, \"Movie offers are out there for me, I just don\'t hear them yet.\"

It really doesn\'t matter what you think of Jim Carrey. The point is, he is successful enough to earn around $20 million a picture.

I don\'t mean to imply that his affirmations every night on Mulholland Drive were the only contributing factors to his being successful. I really don\'t know what else he did. But I do know that successful people think successful thoughts.

In many motivational books and courses, you will read over and over that the way you change your life is by changing your thinking. Many people instead think that once they get the success that they desire, then will be able to be positive and think thoughts of success. They really think that the reason successful people are positive is because they are successful. Just the opposite is true.

We are all a product of our thoughts.

Is it a paradox?. Some might think of it as foolish mind games. How can you think thoughts of achieving your desires, if you have no idea of how to get there? Some may say, \"You\'re just kidding yourself.\" Others would say, \"It\'s not reality; it\'s not true; you\'re just lying to yourself.\"

Well, consider this. Have you ever planned for a vacation? Were you lying to yourself? Have you ever looked at brochures for your vacation destination? Have you ever been excited and pictured yourself relaxing and enjoying yourself at your vacation spot? Have you ever told anyone about it?

I remember the first time we went to Hawaii. I was so excited that we were finally going! I had many exciting thoughts about going, even months before we left. I could picture myself there, I could see and hear the ocean in my mind, and I just couldn\'t wait to get there!

Planning your success is a lot like planning a vacation. You get clear on where you desire to go. You pick a date. You start making plans.

And something you would never say in planning a vacation to Hawaii, would be, \"Oh, I\'ll never go to Hawaii.\" On the contrary, you would be saying, \"I am going to Hawaii.\"

Why not do the same thing with your goals and the desires you have? Why not picture and see in your mind your desired destination? Why not absolutely expect for those things to happen in your life?

Too often, people get talked out of their dreams and goals because they just can\'t figure out how it can possibly happen. You know something? The \"how\" will take care of itself, if you will get the picture clear and stay focused on it. Your dreams and goals will come into reality as you keep your mind locked into the desires that you have.

Change your life by changing your thinking. And then, continually repeat those successful thoughts in your mind.

So, by now you\'ve watched phenomenal DVD \"The Secret\". You\'re inspired, feeling intensely hopeful, running around sharing it with everyone you know. Some of who \"get it\", most of whom do not. Don\'t fret thou, it\'s (life) is designed that way. Now, back to you, you\'re manifesting sporadically here and there, and loving it.

Your dilemma, \"How do I keep it going?\" Keep this level of intensity, level of high vibration up? How do I stop myself from falling back to the old me after 30, 60, or 90 days? Can I make lasting change and still interact with my family, friends and co-workers whose vibrations might be lower, a lot lower (drama)?

Well, here are 3 simple steps to get you started:

Step 1, Stay Plugged In: Watch the DVD or listen to the CD audio book at least once a week, even if you have to break it up over a couple of days. Even if it\'s just background noise while you do housework. You\'d be amazed at what the subconscious mind takes in. I\'ve never made my 14-year-old son sit down and watch the movie, but it plays as background noise in our home all the time. Well, one evening while out to dinner, he recites almost the whole movie back to me practically verbatim, I was amazed. Now, I gladly let the movie run in the mornings while he gets ready for school.

Step 2, Meditate or Quiet Time: While meditation is good and I highly recommend it. There are those who are unwilling or resistant to setting aside 15-20 minutes a day to meditate. The idea seems, well, rather boring. So, if you fall into this category, I suggest picking just 1 hour a week to do something for yourself. Not with the kids, not with your mate, not even with your best friend. Go get a massage, go for a long walk alone, sit in nature, paint a picture, go for a long drive, to the library or to a coffee shop alone, no cell phones, no computers. Whatever you choose, do this quiet thing by yourself for 1 hour a week minimum. The attention you give yourself will be quite pleasing and you are so worth it.

I have what I like to call \"spa night.\" My family knows that unless the house is on fire \"DO NOT DISTURB.\" I love to take a nice long hot bubble bath with my candles, aromatherapy and CD\'s. Just the mere thought of \"spa night\" during a stressful day at work makes my heart sing and my mood lighten. Make your choice a ritual you look forward to, no matter how hectic your life may be. Feeling good must become a priority.

Step 3, Affirmations: This is probably the most important but only becomes effective after you learn to raise your own vibrations or spirits. That is the use of affirmations. It is necessary to change the script that runs in your head and heart all the time. Affirmations are a way to do this, in fact you are already using them, we all are. You just may not be using the right ones to bring about what you want. We all have so many thoughts that run through our minds in the course of a day. This may take some time and effort but it does not have to take a long time. The law of attraction will spring into action in a way that you want it to. Your relationships will improve, your health will get better and your finances will increase, just remain open and diligent.

I use a number of different affirmations, depending on my mood and what I want to manifest. Over the course of just a few months my new affirmations run through my mind in response to whatever I may be experiencing, replacing old thoughts that no longer serve me.

Imagine being at work and when someone pisses you off, \"I work with the most wonderful, wonderful people\" automatically starts to play in your mind. You will begin to feel calm, centered and able to handle situations without lowering your vibrations.

How much time do you waste? Do you spend a lot of time lazing around, ‘just thinking\' or are you constantly on the go, fit, active and getting things done?

If you are in the first category, there are a lot of very obvious things you can do to improve, but in this article I want to concentrate on those of us who are already using our time constructively and examine how you can squeeze even more from your day.

You may think that your life is so full that this is impossible, but I recently ran an inventory of how I used my time and realised that there was still some room for improvement. Here\'s what I discovered.

Timespace #1 – For years I avoided doing any kind of exercise. I was lucky, I was always pretty skinny so being unfit didn\'t make me overweight. As I got older, though I realised that I had to take my body a bit more seriously.

Now, I am a moderate exerciser. I\'m not crazy with it, but I am regular; I now go running for half an hour every second day and visit the gym three times a week. No problem there; I get satisfaction from using my time well and I appreciate the results.

Then I realised that I am spending maybe five hours per week working hard to improve my body, but I have been neglecting my mind. So now when I\'m pounding the streets or straining at the weights, I use the opportunity to listen to self development programs on my I-Pod, to concentrate on goal visualization, to practice affirmations or just focus on being grateful for all the good things in my life. And there\'s a bonus too; because the blood is racing through my veins, my brain is more alert and better prepared to learn and grow.

Timespace #2 – I drive a lot. My business requires a good deal of travel and most of it is done in the car. I used to listen to music on the radio or go into an almost trance-like ‘auto pilot\' mode, usually to escape the tedium of long distance driving.

Now, though, I put a self development CD in the player, or a language course, or again, I use the time to practice visualizations and affirmations. The privacy of your little tin box allows you to shout, sing, laugh or mumble. Who cares? You are on your own. It\'s your space.

Timespace #3 – Finally, this one is not so much about finding extra time as making better use of the time I thought I was using wisely. My personal time audit showed me that I was wasting a whole hour, sometimes more, at the beginning of the day catching up on the overnight e-mail load and then planning what I was going to do for the rest of the day.

I prided myself on being an efficient time warrior, but I now realise, that I was missing one of the biggest mistakes of all.

So how did I fix that? Simple. I changed two things. Firstly, I now do my planning, the night before, by taking ten minutes, near to the end of the evening and writing down everything I want to achieve the next day. The bonus here is that overnight, my mind works on the issues even while I sleep, so by the time I get started next day, I am far better prepared.

Secondly, I leave my e-mail inbox until lunchtime. I spend the morning getting through the goals I assigned the night before and then just before I take a break for lunch, I race through my inbox. That way, I find I already feel good about what I\'ve done so far in the day, my mind is much more focused and I don\'t get distracted.

So no matter how efficient you think you are, take a look again at your day and I\'ll bet you can find some extra layers of time, you never knew you had. Good hunting.
